February 2014 - Anderson Auditorium - Centenary College

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary's Hurley School of Music and Marjorie Lyons Playhouse present their first joint production, Urinetown, the musical by Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis, February 6-8, 2014.

The satirical plotline, which parodies the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics, and musical theatre itself, revolves around a town where water is scarce. Sustainable living is just beyond the reach for all except the very wealthy in part because of the antagonistic Urine Good Company that turns unthinkable profits at public "amenities," charging the poor a hefty price for relief.

Soon a rebellion emerges and tables are turned. Will the transfer of power from the rich to the poor create a dreamscape of public contentment? Find out by watching the 2002 Tony Award winning Urinetown, the Musical.

Urinetown is accompanied by an outstanding musical score that will be sure to make theatregoers laugh and sing its wonderful tunes for days after the curtain comes down.

Directed by Dr. Ron Bermingham with choreography by Anna Maris Kirkes, the production stars an ensemble cast of Centenary students: Kyle Boston, Herman Hope, Mary Ellen Kidd, MarvKevea Campbell, Joe Signorelli, Mathieu St. Romain, Hayley Cooper, Rebecca Vacha, Sandy Rather, Steven Knight, Josh Ritter, Michael Nguyen, Meredith Ball, André Trahan, Addie Jane Barron, and Jessica Bato.
