His acting skills were honed in the musical theatre program at Arizona State University (M.A.), and in the opera programs at Indiana University, the University of British Columbia, the Université de Montréal (M.Mus.) and McGill University (Ph.D.).  A regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions (Seattle) and gold medal winner at the Francisco Viñas International Voice Competition in Barcelona, Spain, Ron has sung with the Canadian Opera Company, with the Vancouver and Edmonton Operas, and with opera companies in Belgium, France, Holland and Germany.  He has performed the standard oratorio and operatic repertoire as a guest soloist with symphony orchestras across Canada and the United States, and has recorded for PBS, CBC radio and television, and the NDR in Hamburg, Germany.  A seasoned musical theatre performer and music director, Ron was an Assistant Chair of the Theatre Arts Department at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA/Riverfront), and headed NOCCA's Musical Theatre Division (2002-2005) until September 2005 when Katrina struck New Orleans.  Post Katrina, Ron accepted a position with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, serving as its Director of Artistic Operations, Education and Community Engagement until June of 2009 when he was invited to join the administrative team of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.  After a performance career spanning more than 30 years in Europe and North America, Ron lists among his favorite roles, Don Quixote (Man of LaMancha), Emile de Becque (South Pacific), and Lazar Wolf (Fiddler on the Roof), Colline (La Bohème), Don Alfonso (Cosi fan tutte), and the title role in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi.  Ron served as music director and conductor for the New Orlean's premier of Side Show and Floyd Collins at NOCCA/Riverfront, and during the last three seasons has appeared as guest conductor/music director for Oliver, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Evita, and Annie, all with Jefferson Performing Arts Society (New Orleans).  Recently, Ron was among a handful of teachers nominated for the 2006 Distinguished Teachers in the Arts award by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.  Ron made his debut with the Baton Rouge Little Theater as conductor/music director of the spring 2007 production of Pajama Game, returning in 2008 to conduct BRLT's production of Showboat. In October 2009 Ron conducted Damn Yankees at New Orleans' Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré and  returned to Le Petit in 2010 to music direct and conduct Irving Berlin's White Christmas. April 2011 finds him at Jesuit High School as music director and conductor of Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate.
